There is no love of life without a little clutter and messiness!
Your stuff has taken over your life and space, but you've got this! The true reality of our space is a pattern of a bipolar system:
clean - messy on a never ending repeat!
It's a life well lived and experienced so be gentle with yourself. Remember that every person has a different image of what organized, decluttered and clean looks like. Here are a few tips below to get you started:
Organizing & Declutter Tips
-
Look at the space in your home to see if you can change it's use to fit your lifestyle. Maybe a sitting room needs to become a craft room or office.
-
Pick a category such as toys or an accumulation of saved papers that you wish to declutter rather than tackling just a space.
-
Go through items making piles to trash, give away and save. Once sorted don't let it sit in the corner. Take items for consignment or donation to it's destination within 2 days.
-
Organize like items together. It will feel and look more symmetrical.
-
Something you want to save? Ask yourself why? For example if you have saved vases for flowers do you need 10 or will 3 be sufficient?
-
If you love something can you display it somewhere in your home?
-
There is always more than one way to do tackle our clutter so do what feels right for you!
-
When organizing a closet after removing items that you haven't worn or don't want...hang your clothing by category, left to right, light to dark. Having all the same hangers will also give a cleaner presentation.
